Free Android app · v1.7.0
Screen time you earn.
FocusBank keeps your distracting apps locked until you've done the work. Finish tasks on time to fill your Vault with minutes, then spend them on the apps you choose. Miss a deadline and one of those apps gets locked.
How it works
Work first. Then play, on a budget.
Most screen-time limits are free minutes you can dismiss. FocusBank turns them into something you earn, so finishing your work is what opens your apps.
Add a commitment
Give it a deadline, a priority and a reward. High-priority tasks earn 30 minutes by default, medium 20, low 10. You can also set a penalty for missing it.
Finish it on time
The reward goes into your Vault. Finish a full day early and you also earn a reroll, which cancels your next penalty.
Spend your minutes
Opening a protected app counts down your Vault second by second. When it reaches zero, the app is blocked until you earn more.
Missed a deadline? FocusBank rolls the dice and locks one of your protected apps for the task's penalty time. The lock counts down while your Vault has time and pauses when it's empty. If the task is still unfinished when it ends, another app gets locked.

Features
Built to be hard to cheat, easy to live with.
Commitments and plans
Commitments earn rewards and carry penalties. Plans are for scheduling only: a reminder, no reward, and they never keep your apps locked.
Daily time limit per app
Cap any protected app, say 30 minutes of Instagram a day. It still uses Vault time and is blocked when either the limit or the Vault runs out.
Finish everything, use freely
Complete every commitment due today and your apps open for the rest of the day, even with an empty Vault. Your per-app limits still apply.
Screen-free goal
Set minutes you want away from your phone each day. The daily unlock waits until you've reached them. Sleep doesn't count.
Week at a glance
Seven days in three-hour windows, colour-coded by priority. Sort tasks by due date, priority or the Eisenhower matrix.
A block screen that helps
When an app is locked, FocusBank says why, shows the countdown, and points you to the most important task you could finish next.
Privacy
Your data never leaves your phone.
FocusBank has no server and no account. It doesn't even request internet access.
- Only what blocking needs
The Accessibility service sees which app is on screen and whether the screen is on. It doesn't read what you type or what other apps show. - You decide first
An in-app explanation asks for your consent before you enable anything, and you can turn it off any time in Settings. - Kept out of cloud backup
Your tasks and usage stay on the device. Export a backup file yourself if you want one. - No ads, analytics or trackers
Nothing is collected, sold or shared.

Questions
Good to know
Is FocusBank free?
Yes. There are no ads, subscriptions or in-app purchases.
Why does it need Accessibility permission?
It's the only way an Android app can tell, the moment you switch apps, that a protected app has opened, and then show the block screen. FocusBank only uses the app's package name and whether the screen is on.
Can't I just turn it off?
Yes, in Settings, and that's deliberate. FocusBank is a self-control tool for your own phone, not parental control. It makes turning it off a conscious choice rather than a single tap inside the app.
Will it drain my battery?
It reacts to app switches and runs one light check per second while it's on. It needs no network and does no background syncing.
Will it come to Google Play?
That's the plan. When it does, it will be a separate install: back up your data from the Vault screen first, then install the Play version.
Something isn't working
Some phone makers stop background services to save battery. If blocking stops, check that FocusBank is still on in Accessibility settings and allowed to run in the background. You can report problems on GitHub.
