About this policy
This policy covers the FocusBank Android app (package com.focusbank.app). FocusBank is a personal productivity tool that limits your own use of apps you choose until you earn time by completing tasks.
FocusBank works entirely offline. There is no account, no sign-in and no server operated by the developer.
Summary
The developer collects no personal data from FocusBank. Everything the app needs is created and stored only on your phone, and nothing is uploaded, sold or shared.
- No account, analytics, advertising or tracking SDKs.
- No internet permission: the app does not request network access to send data anywhere.
- You can delete everything at any time with Reset all data or by uninstalling the app.
Information stored on your device
FocusBank keeps the following only in its private app storage on your phone. Other apps cannot read it, and the developer never receives it.
| Information | Why it is kept |
|---|---|
| Tasks and plans: title, priority, reward and penalty minutes, deadline, reminder time, completion time | To schedule reminders, apply rewards and penalties, and show the Tasks and Schedule screens |
| Vault balance, rerolls and active penalties | To decide whether a protected app may open |
| Protected apps, their categories and any daily time limits | To know which apps to limit and how |
| Daily usage per protected app (package name and seconds used) | To count down your time and show today's usage |
| Screen-off time per day | To measure progress toward your optional screen-free goal |
| Settings: theme, extra-allowance time, screen-free goal | To remember your choices |
| The time you agreed to the Accessibility disclosure | To record your consent |
The app also builds a list of your installed launchable apps (names and icons) while the Apps screen is open, so you can pick which to protect. That list is not stored or sent anywhere.
Accessibility service
FocusBank uses Android's Accessibility service only to enforce the limits you set, and only after you agree to an in-app disclosure and turn it on yourself.
While it is on, FocusBank observes:
- the package name of the app currently on screen, each time you switch apps;
- whether the screen is on, off or locked.
It uses this to count your time, apply penalties, track screen-free time and show a full-screen block over a protected app. It does not read what you type, the text or images inside other apps, passwords, messages or notifications, and it does not record your screen. None of this information leaves your phone.
You can turn the service off at any time in Settings › Accessibility › FocusBank. Blocking stops immediately when you do.
Permissions
| Permission | What it is used for |
|---|---|
| Accessibility service | Seeing which app is on screen so protected apps can be limited |
| Notifications | Task reminders, deadline and penalty alerts, and the ongoing "protection is active" notice |
| Foreground service (special use) | Keeping that ongoing notice visible while blocking is active |
| Run at startup | Re-scheduling task reminders and the extra allowance after the phone restarts |
| Package visibility (launcher apps only) | Listing launchable apps so you can choose which to protect; FocusBank does not request access to all installed packages |
Sharing and third parties
FocusBank does not sell, rent, share or transfer your information to anyone, because the developer never receives it. The app contains no advertising, analytics, crash-reporting or tracking libraries.
This website is hosted on GitHub Pages, and downloads are served by GitHub. GitHub may log visits and downloads under its own privacy statement. If FocusBank is later distributed through Google Play, Google may likewise collect install and crash statistics under its own policies.
Backups
FocusBank's data is excluded from Android's automatic cloud backup and from device-to-device transfer, so it does not leave your phone that way.
You can choose Export backup to save a JSON file with your tasks, balances, protected apps and settings. You pick where that file goes, and from then on it is under your control. Import backup reads a file you select and replaces your tasks with its contents.
Keeping and deleting your information
Your information stays on your phone until you delete it.
- Reset all data (in the Vault) deletes your tasks, usage history, protected apps, time limits and penalties.
- Uninstalling FocusBank deletes everything the app stored.
- Backup files you exported are not deleted by either, so delete them yourself if you no longer want them.
Children
FocusBank is intended for adults managing their own phone use, not for children. It is not a parental-control tool and must not be used to monitor another person. Because the developer collects no data, no information about children is collected either.
Security
FocusBank's data sits in Android's private app storage, which other apps cannot access on a phone that has not been rooted. The data is not separately encrypted by the app, so anyone who can unlock your phone can see FocusBank's screens. Protect your phone with a screen lock.
Changes, contact and governing law
If FocusBank starts handling information differently, this policy will be updated before that version is released, and the date at the top will change.
This policy is governed by the laws of India.
